Keeping up with the latest news from the course, Mark Rivkin Golf reports on the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which recently took place at the lovely TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course in Scottsdale, Arizona. The four day PGA Tour event was as exciting as ever and Phil Mickelson’s total score of -28 was more than enough for the win, capping off his third Phoenix Open victory, as well as his 41st career title. The excitement of one of golf’s most prominent annual events included a score of tournament records being either tied or broken; four of which were broken by the tourney champion, Mickelson. The event also set attendance records on the second and third days of play with a combined two-day gallery of over 300,000.

The 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open marks a tradition that has hosted the best of professional golf for over seventy years, and it is highly considered to be the best attended event in golf. Every year half a million fans and spectators flock to TPC Scottsdale in Arizona to witness professional golf’s top competitors and rising stars.

The Phoenix Thunderbirds are the host organization for the Phoenix Open and they have been a key player in the success of the tournament since the tournament’s inception during the 30’s. Thunderbirds Charities was created in 1986 with the goal of establishing an advocate for various charitable causes; which those of us at Mark Rivkin Golf fully support. Funds are raised through the golf tournament and direct gifts to Thunderbirds Charities.

The Thunderbirds Charities has a direct mission of helping children and families, as well as people in need while improving the quality of life in Phoenix-area communities. Its generosity is directed towards organizations in the state of Arizona, and the Waste Management Phoenix Open honors America’s heroes by offering complimentary admission to active, reserve and retired military personnel, active police and active firefighters.
