Brandt Snedeker is the 2013 Champ at the Pebble Beach ProAm

As enjoyable as it is every year, the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in California did not disappoint in 2013, and Mark Rivkin Golf reports on the results of the celebrity golf tournament. The atmosphere was as exciting as ever with celebrity antics for everyone’s entertainment as well as first-class competition on the course from today’s top professionals. Brandt Snedeker played some of his best golf and an outstanding performance Sunday that ended with a 7-under 65 (-19 for the tourney which broke the tournament record by one shot held by Mickelson-2007 & Mark O’Meara-1997) was good enough for a two-shot victory over Chris Kirk in the 2013 Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Kirk, Walker, Kevin Stadler and Retief Goosen put up a few valiant runs at Snedeker, and the FedExCup champ almost helped them out when he took a bogey on the 9th, but for the most part the field’s only real option was to play for a top ten. Hahn shot a 2-under 70 and tied for third with Jimmy Walker (66) and Kevin Stadler (65). Patrick Reed’s birdie on the final hole at Monterey Peninsula gave him a tie for seventh with Fredrik Jacobson, and kept Jacobson from qualifying for the Match Play Championship by the smallest of margins.

Condoleezza Rice combined with Jason Bohn to shoot a 2-under 70, but unfortunately it was another incident on the sixth hole that caught the most attention. Here approach shot was mis-hit towards the gallery and it struck an unidentified woman smack dead in the forehead. Condi offered her personal attention and apologies, and though the gallery member was bleeding after the incident, she did not need stitches and seemed to be doing OK. The former Secretary of State under W. Bush, apparently spends a great deal of time on the golf course since her White House days.

Other celebrities that played in this year’s Pebble Beach ProAm were Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander (playing with Robert Garrigus), Jim Harbaugh (playing with Jason Day), Tony Romo (playing with Jordan Spieth) and Huey Lewis (playing with Brad Fritsch). The celebrity antics that are part of the Saturday show at Pebble Beach are always entertaining and they really help bring the charity golf tournament to life.

Tune in next time for the latest Mark Rivkin Golf News from the Course.
